MERETE JOELSEN AUNE

NEBULA SURVEYS

CURATED BY HEDEVIG ANKER
20.05 - 02.07

Welcome to an artist talk with Hedevig Anker and Merete Joelsen Aune on Wednesday, June 14 at 6:00 PM. The exhibition will be shown in Prosjektrommet at Trafo Kunsthall and is part two of the exhibition series artist curates artist.

Artist, art historian and, on this occasion, curator Hedevig Anker has shown great enthusiasm for Merete Joelsen Aune's artistry, and writes, among other things, this:

In order to see into space and what is happening there, one must let one's inner gaze work. My fascination with Meretes Joelsen Aune's art lies in the fact that we are taken out to the outermost dimensions of the atmosphere and at the same time into the inexhaustible universe of imagination. Through drawing, photography and watercolor, she investigates the expansive powers of the stars. She creates open and associative investigations where imagination and science merge into each other, where we can think infinitely large, while at the same time drawing a stringent arc to the here and now; to pencil and brush on paper. Through her personal interpretations of the slow life cycle of the stars, Aune folds the individually experienced time together with the timelessness of the universe. In this way, she opens up for a recognition that we ourselves are firmly connected to the slow cycle of space. She creates concrete representations of the dimensions beyond the visible, where the actual and the imagined become equal magnitudes and where we are reminded that a small stone on the beach is directly connected to the infinitely slow life of the planets.
