Part of REKREASJON 2024

The exhibition TRIOPOLIS shows three different artists from the Dikemark collection: Edvard Woster, RJ and Beethoven (the artist's pseudonym).

Dikemark psykiatriske sykehusmuseum (OUS) which was established in 1984, and is the first psychiatric history museum in Norway. It has an extensive collection of cultural historical objects and a large art collection. This collection consists of around 1450 works made by former patients at the hospital, preferably from the pre-drug period 1920-1950, before antipsychotic drugs were introduced into treatment in the early 1950s. The content of the collection is broad and includes drawings, paintings, sculptures and embroidery.

Since 2016, Trafo Kunsthall and Dikemark psykiatriske sykehusmuseum OUS worked to promote art made on the side of the professional art field.

The artists in this exhibition can be said to be rare representatives of historical Outsider Art created in Norway in the 1920s to 1940s.
